I'm Emily Pearson-Beck (she/her), a licensed social worker and yoga teacher based in New York City.
I provide outpatient psychotherapy and case management at a major New York City hospital, where I support adults navigating trauma, identity exploration, stigma, and complex or chronic health conditions. I previously served as a medical social worker in an intensive care unit, supporting patients and families through medical crises, end-of-life care, and grief.
My work is grounded in affirming care for LGBTQ+ individuals and those living at the intersections of medical and mental health challenges.
I am bilingual in Spanish and proficient in Mandarin Chinese, and have used both languages in professional settings to help ensure accessible, culturally responsive care.

I have completed Basic EMDR training and am currently working toward full certification. I incorporate EMDR into my work where clinically indicated, as part of a broader trauma-informed approach.
These experiences have shaped a therapeutic approach that is grounded, relational, and down to earth. I value trust, a shared sense of humor, and finding the balance of laughter with deep respect for what you are working through.
My work draws on psychodynamic, trauma-informed, and social justice–oriented frameworks, and I aim to hold space that honors complexity, agency, and resilience. I believe in supporting each person’s right to define their own path toward healing, and I center self-determination as a core element of effective care.
I am also a certified yoga teacher, with an 85-hour certification in prenatal yoga. I offer classes that emphasize mindfulness, accessibility, and embodied awareness.
I teach regularly as part of the permanent staff at VITAL climbing gym and also lead classes at the Prenatal Yoga Center on a more occasional basis.

Whether through psychotherapy or yoga, my practice is rooted in care, curiosity, and authenticity. I encourage you to embrace your own path toward healing and growth with intention and presence.

Please Note:
To maintain ethical and effective care, I do not provide both psychotherapy and yoga instruction to the same individual. If you are working with me in therapy and are interested in yoga, I’m happy to offer guidance or referrals to support you in finding separate yoga classes.
